SSAC Gallery is a cooperative enterprise designed to promote awareness of the talents and abilities of people with intellectual disabilities.
The Southside Art Center Gallery (SSAC) has broken new ground. It is the first gallery operated by people with developmental challenges in a commercial mainstream mall.
We embrace the belief that the gallery is an educational model providing opportunities for training in customer service, sales, janitorial, display design and store operations.
Our goal is to assist people with disabilities to gain the skills and abilities necessary to present themselves and represent the gallery in the most professional manner possible.
At our gallery, artists learn to greet customers, maintain the gallery, sell the artwork and show the public that artists with developmental disabilities are talented and able, which is the main motivation behind Southside Art Center Gallery.
