The Southside Art Center Gallery has broken new ground. It is the first gallery operated by people with developmental challenges in a commercial mainstream mall. At our gallery, artists learn to greet customers, maintain the gallery, sell the artwork and show the public that artists with developmental disabilities are talented and able... which is the main impetus behind Southside Art Center Gallery.
A community gem, Southside Art Center Gallery is a great place to find stunning art for your office and home, as well as great gifts. Southside Art Center collaborates with several non-profits art centers with artists with developmental disabilities to provide this spacious and well-run gallery at the Country Club Plaza. Come discover Southside Art Center Gallery’s vibrant art and artists!
Southside Art Center Gallery is located at Country Club Plaza, on the corner of El Camino and Watt Avenues in Sacramento. The Owners of Country Club Plaza who donated the New Visions site also are patrons of Southside Art Center. A large ceramic mural created by Southside’s artists hangs in the mall outside of Macy’s Department Store at the Country Club Plaza.
Much thanks to Karen Blakowski and the management of Country Club Plaza for helping Southside Art Center Gallery secure a great space and re-open in 2005 after a brief hiatus due to remodeling of the mall.
